After almost a year in the making, the Housing Boom revival is here. Returning on December 2, you can expect to see a lineup of exceptional Australian exports, Moktar, Roza Terenzi, Adi Toohey and locals Brigitte, Tim from Bound, as well as Dave Kameniar and Phil Pirone from the Housing Boom team.
Returning to the iconic Hart’s Mill in Port Adelaide, Housing Boom places a strong emphasis on delivering top-tier production in partnership with the renowned Fabric Creative team. They’re known for providing a captivating stage and lighting setup, and the additional collaboration of audiovisual mastermind Ryan Sahb serves up an installation of visual delight.
The Housing Boom team, Dave and Phil along with Yani Tsapaliaris, set out to involve a range of notable businesses, “to try and focus as much as possible on local brands”. The event will boast a fully stocked bar courtesy of a diverse selection of local suppliers including Delinquente Wines, Bizzarro, Pirate Life, Yes Maté, plus to satisfy your cravings, Pan & Vine will be serving delectable pizzas throughout the entire afternoon.
Hand Me Down Heat will be back again catering for all your vintage clothing needs. If you forget a jumper, they’ll have you covered with a fresh new look.
On this, Dave says the team loves to give local businesses the, “opportunity to get themselves in front of a group of people and be involved in something to be part of our community”.
Housing Boom began in 2018 at a seventy-person venue, which then grew into an infamous monthly party at various Adelaide spots. Then in 2020, they broke away from the club scene and had their first non-club gig at the Old Adelaide Gaol, before landing at Hart’s Mill at the start of 2023.
On taking Housing Boom from a club setting, the team says, “it’s easy from a logistical perspective to take for granted how set up a club is to run an event. Even just having four walls, the sound system, the bar, and all the associated branding that goes with that club as well”.
Moving away from the club scene, Dave says, “we’re quite free to have a bit of creative expression around the way we construct the site, the way that we formulate, build a stage, and the lighting design is different every time”.
When asked what advice the team could give to people looking to take it to that next step in the event space, Dave suggests that, “it may sound cliche, but just give it a go. Talk to people doing similar things, promoters, artists themselves; developing relationships and find out what they’re doing to understand what’s going on.” Most importantly, Dave says to, “stay curious.”
Taking place on the first weekend of summer, Housing Boom encourages attendees to, “get down as early as possible to enjoy the weather and see the locals on the lineup”.
“The overarching vision is to create a pleasant environment, that people can go and feel comfortable and that they’re going to be safe, be around like-minded people, and just be able to enjoy themselves”.
