If you haven’t been there before, Nevermind can be hard to find.
It’s the darker grungier sister of amaro, wine and cocktail bar Leigh Street Luggage, with a thing for midweek parties and hospo love sessions.
You can enter Nevermind through Leigh Street Luggage’s non-concerning back door, or through a quiet side alley. This Saturday however, Nevermind will be making a lot more noise than usual with the bar’s first ever alleyway party.
“It’s something the directors have been dreaming of doing since we first opened last year,” says Marketing and Events Organiser Hasthi Yapa.
“We’ve been wanting to utilise the alleyway space in a way the street’s never seen before, and have really just been waiting on the right time and opportunity.”
When the chance to book cult Berlin house DJ Estimulo popped up, the team knew it was time to take things outside.
Collaborating with Brighter Future’s Tristan Jong (Gratts) and Inside Out Dance Club head honcho Lenin Paunovic (Late Nite Lenny), Nevermind will celebrate a loud alleyway afternoon session kicking off at 4pm with strictly vinyl spinning.
Joining headline act Estimulo is Australian born Berlin based Eluize, where Late Nite Lenny and Gratts, who is an ex-Berlin club mogul, will also be hitting the decks.
Maximising the potential of the outdoor space, an alleyway bar will be installed by local distillers and sponsors of the event Bizzarro alongside Jägermeister.
“The alley is a grungy and intriguing space which has always been a highlight for the bar, where those who come by feel comfortable in letting their hair down and indulging in the crafted drinks menu,” Hasthi says.
“This weekend, we aim to elevate that experience, where patrons can engulf themselves in an inside/outside bar experience and DJs will spin sexy house tracks straight off vinyl.”
Inside Out Dance Club will be supplying their trademark Funktion One sound system which will be installed in the alleyway for top tier listening pleasure.
Hasthi says this will be a milestone moment for Nevermind and a special experience on Leigh Street.
“Expect an afternoon of sonic, visual and liquid pleasure, and a taste of some of Berlin’s best,” he says.
